Announcing.....

Well, today is the day that we finally got to meet, face to face, our daughter. Lisa did a great job. Incredible in fact. At one point in the process our nurse (who has been an OB nurse at Lutheran for 20 years) jested that Lisa was showing off. She did the whole thing without pain killers of any kind (except a local right before the hard pushing) and never got loud or anything like that. She is one tough lady! I know you're all like...'shut up Mark and tell us the low down!'...so I will.

Our daughter Mahala "Haley" Elizabeth Long was born at 12:27 pm today, September 25, 2006 weighing 8 pounds 9 1/2 ounces and measured 20 1/2 inches in length. She is beautiful! It's an amazing thing and not to sound cliche'...it is a miracle! How anyone can see this and not know there is a designer of the universe is beyond me!

Here are some pics, I have more and will get more up soon and maybe even a short video clip or two, but please be patient. I promise it won't be more than 3-4 days before I have the rest up.

Grandma's finally got her granddaughter!

Grandpa's got his hand full!

More to follow... ;-)

It's gotta be surreal to know that someday you'll be giving her away! Someday - hopefully a long way off!! So many things will be different for her and for us. She'll actually experience the same thing her momma did when she has first baby. Treat her like the princess she is and remember you use to let me put make up on you and do your hair - you better let her play princess with you too! lol If she ever wants to play tea party with her daddy you better sit down and let her serve you and remember to hold your pinky out!!

Thanks for the timewarp there Sara! Like I really want to think about her getting married right now! ;-) I agree...Hopefully a long long long long long way off!!!

BTW, I remember letting you put stuff in my hair, but I don't remember (cause it didn't happen!) letting you put make-up on me!

I will remember to keep my pinky out though... :-)

Brandi,

It will be great to see you guys in March! Thanks for the congrats too! I hope I am ok as a Daddy to a daughter...the only experience I have with girls in the family is my sister...I don't know that I was too good of a big brother...
But I guess I wasn't horrible either. I also have some experience with you as an 'adopted' little sister during your middle and high school years, but that is sort of muddled too...

I'm not really worried, I just don't have any real experience to draw on...I guess I'll just have to wing it! I usually do ok when I do that. ;-)

Love you guys!
